Description:

Vijay Saar, revered in Ayurveda and described in detail in the Bhavaprakasha Nighantu, is a potent medicinal tree known primarily for its wood and heartwood extract. Traditionally referred to as Asana in Ayurvedic texts, it is praised for its Kashaya (astringent) rasa, laghu (light) and ruksha (dry) guna, and sheeta (cooling) veerya. These properties make it especially effective in managing Prameha (diabetes), Kapha-pitta disorders, and in promoting meda-kshaya (fat reduction).

Traditional Uses (As per Bhavaprakasha Nighantu):

• Pramehaghna: One of the most renowned uses of Vijay Saar is in the treatment of Prameha, especially Madhumeha (diabetes mellitus). The heartwood is often soaked overnight in water and consumed as an herbal infusion to regulate blood sugar levels.

• Raktaprasadaka: Acts as a blood purifier, supporting skin health and detoxification.

• Medohara: Helps in reducing excess fat, making it useful in managing obesity.

• Kaphahara: Balances excessive Kapha dosha, thus aiding in conditions like respiratory congestion and sluggish metabolism.

• Kandughna: Useful in relieving itching and other skin disorders.
